During the Spring 2021 Budget, Rishi Sunak pledged £408m to support the arts sector, aiming to help museums, theatres and galleries to reopen when Coronavirus Restrictions ease.
- £300m of this investment will go into to pre-existing Culture Recovery Fund, originally introduced in July 2020
- £90m will go into helping government-sponsored National Museums and cultural bodies stay afloat until they can reopen
- £18.8m will go to local cultural infrastructure projects in regional towns/cities such as Carlisle, Hartlepool etc. to boost cultural life
