The existing rules in place designed to protect commercial tenants from eviction have been extended until 25 March 2022. Businesses that have had to remain closed during the pandemic and are unable to pay rent on commercial property will continued to be protected from evictions.

As well as this extension, the notice period a landlord must give a tenant to leave a property has been decreased from 6 months to 4 months. Tenants given a notice between 29 August 2020 and 21 May 2021 must be given 6 months to leave the property by the Landlord. The eviction notice periods will return to 2 months from 01 October 2021.
